Change is never easy. It puts us face-to-face with the unknown. It challenges us to go outside of our comfort zones. It breaks us out of our routines and pushes us into uncharted waters.

Do you want to change? Do you want to be healthier? Do you want to live a long life with fewer or no medications, trips to the doctor, constant worrying, and deteriorating physical health? Do you want to have energy? Enjoy life more? Do you want to feel positive and happy?

These are questions you have to ask yourself and answer honestly, because change requires commitment. It requires you to be vigilant. There will always be temptations. There will always be people who don’t want you to change, just as there will always be excuses not to change.

The beauty of this program is that we understand that change is hard. Most of us don’t want to give up the things we enjoy. We don’t want to cut out the foods we have come to identify with pleasure and satisfaction.

So how do you change your entire life? How do you make yourself into a new person without becoming overwhelmed by the giant task in front of you? How can you accept the unknown, and the fear that comes with it?

The answer is: Keep it simple

Don’t let your mind race with negative thoughts. Don’t worry about a month from now, three months from now, or three years from now. Stay focused on today, and what you need to accomplish. Stick with the program and have faith that you will begin to feel and see incredible improvements. Life will get better because you’ll be healthier, happier, and have more energy.

We intentionally made this program 10 days long because for most of us, 10 days is achievable. What is remarkable about this program is that all you need is 10 days to see how easy it is to eat healthy foods and see changes in your blood sugars. Once you understand the principles of healthy eating and become familiar with the concepts, you will find that incorporating them into your life is not only simple, but pleasurable as well.

One of the things we hear most often from people who have completed this program is how easy it really is. They tell us how surprisingly delicious the food is. They rave that, for the first time in their lives, they are able to enjoy food as well as health. Most people don’t want to go back to their old diets. Once their bodies have acclimated to a new way of eating, they don’t want to return to the old ways. They recognize that their previously unhealthy diet was full of foods that robbed them of their health and vitality, sapped their strength, and laid waste to their stamina and mood.

And this is truly the miracle of the program. Once you commit to it and start moving forward, your body will want to do what comes naturally. Instead of craving the kinds of foods that are killing it, it will want to eat foods that give it new strength and energy. Don’t be surprised if you no longer desire unhealthy food 10 days from now. Your body knows best. And when you begin to optimize its systems and start giving your body the foods it needs to maintain itself, your system will protest when you try to feed it something it knows is unhealthy.

Going Against the Grain

We have spoken a great deal about the food industry and how we have been led down an unhealthy path, influenced and urged along by a consumer culture that tends to exploit our worst instincts. It constantly pushes us in the direction of the easiest, quickest fix or the instant gratification. In doing so, it has created a health epidemic in this country. Unhealthy foods are promoted as something you must have in order to be happy, fulfilled.

Needless to say, when you decide to eat healthy foods you’ll face a lot of resistance. There will be times in the early stages of this program when you might feel as though you’re up against the whole world. Why? Because not only are you undergoing a diet change, but you are also changing your behavior in a way that may not be considered the ‘norm’ (not yet, anyway). This may make other people uncomfortable. Perhaps it will also make you uncomfortable. No one wants to be the odd person out.

But that will change. Eventually, this country will have to change its ideas about healthy eating, because diabetes and other chronic diseases are becoming rampant. We can’t simply continue to ignore the problem and hope it goes away. Eventually healthy food choices will start becoming more and more acceptable. We are already starting to see that now.

Until change occurs on a bigger scale, remember that you are doing this program for you. You are doing it because you will be healthier and happier as a result. You will grow as a person. You will have faith in yourself. In the end, you’ll discover that the reality of change is a lot less frightening than the idea of it.

Moving Forward Toward a New You

By doing away with the standard American diet of refined foods and meats, you will learn to “eat to live,” and not “live to eat.” Think of it as moving away from the greasy, high-fat fast food that has proliferated our diet in recent years. We are going back to basics, getting our food firsthand, and living off the land, the way life should be!

Final Note

You are embarking on a new adventure that will become more and more exciting as you experience new vigor, decrease your need for drugs, and recover your good health. Every journey begins with a single step. Are you ready to take it?
